Leopard Skins has unveiled plans for ANI, an action-packed historical comic series bringing African fantasy to life.
The plot captures the high-stakes conflict of the Ekwumekwu War (1883–1914), where the Anioma people of present-day Delta State launched a fierce guerrilla campaign against the invading British Colonial Forces and the Royal Niger Company.
Living up to its name—

literally translates to “Do Not Speak About It”, “Whisper” or “Be Silent”—the warriors operated as a highly disciplined, oath-bound secret society utilizing stealth and night time tactics to safeguard their land.
Promising to merge rigorous pre-Colonial African and Igbo elements:

The series aims to bring the overlooked heroism of Anioma commanders to the forefront of modern culture. ANI would represent a major step forward for Nigerian indie comics. The project underscores a growing movement among African creators to reclaim and reframe local histories using dynamic, modern mediums.
